BIO

ZHANG Wenxin(b. 1989) now lives and works in Hangzhou. She received her bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Jinan University (2010) and her master's degree in fine art from California College of the Arts (2013). Zhang sees herself as a terrain builder. She works not to construct landscapes and wonders, but to depict human and non-human minds in the form of mixed media. She uses images, installations, writing, and soundscapes as tools to create process-oriented perceptual experiences, and often uses her work to guide the viewer to fall off the plane of the everyday and enter into a contemplation on time and the transcendent in a liminal space-time.

Zhang was a receiver of the Magnum Foundation Atlantic Philanthropies Grant in 2016, and she was selected as British Journal of Photograph’s 2016 New Talent.

Her Curatorial Practice includes “APAture Art Festival”, San Francisco (2013); “Border Resonance”, Goethe Institute, Beijing (2018); “A Room that Releases Spores”, THE SHOUTER, Shanghai (2021); “Stay Art Festival” panal series, Nanchang, Jiangxi (2020-2022) and “Notes of the Hollow” performance series.

张文心于1989年出生,现工作、生活于杭州。先后获得暨南大学景观规划专业学士学位(2010)与加州艺术学院纯艺术硕士学位(2013)。张文心将自己视为地形建构师,她的工作不是去再现风景和奇观,而是以综合媒介的形式描绘人类及非人心智。她使用图像,装置、写作,以及音景作为工具,制造以过程为导向的知觉体验,并常常以作品引导观看者从日常的平面上掉落,在阈限时空中进入对时间和超验的冥思。

 

她曾于2015年获得马格南基金会Atlantic Philanthropies奖金,并获选2016年British Journal of Photograph New Talent。
